A Hike to Remember
The Death Hike
The first sign of trouble was when, 3 feet in front of me,
I spied a snake ready to strike at me.
It was rattlin' its tail somethin' fierce and did not look happy.
I spied a snake ready to strike at me.
It was rattlin' its tail somethin' fierce and did not look happy.
As we hiked higher and higher the path got steeper and there were more and more thorns and more patches of stinging nettle. Kyle was wearing shorts and was having a bit of trouble but Wendy pressed on.
Once we at lunch at the top we started look for a "nice path down". Such a path did not exist. The mountain began to drop faster and faster and Kyle and I hung on for dear life. Meanwhile Wendy down below said "Ooo look berries!" and started munching on some wild plants. And so the three of us slid 6000 feet down the mountain...
By the time we got to the bottom we were dirty. We were also locked in a gated community so we had to climb a few fences to get out. On the walk to bus Wendy tried to steal apples from private land but was unsuccessful. On the bus people were laughing at our torn and filthy pants.
Safe at home we showered away our filth in time for a birthday party. Our shoes may never recover...
